TWISTED LOVE (BOOK REVIEW) - When Romance Turn Dangerous and Dark

Have you ever read a book that made you question whether love can truly conquer trauma? well Twisted love just ask that question.

 INTRODUCTION๐Ÿ™๐Ÿ™

Genre: Contemporary Romance / Dark Romance

Author : Ana Huang

Rating : ★★★★☆ (4.3 / 5)

Twisted Love is the first book among four in Ana Huang's steamy, emotionally intense “Twisted” series.

BRIEF SUMMARY๐Ÿ“–๐Ÿ“–

The story revolves around Ava Chen, a warm, free-spirited girl who hides her own darkness behind a lens and a smile, and Alex Volkov, a cold, driven man haunted by a past he’s never truly escaped. When Alex moves in next door to Ava — as a favor to his best friend Josh (her overprotective brother) — it sets off a chain of emotions neither of them were prepared for.

But the relation which start from tension slowly becomes something deeper, something neither of them can ignore. Alex, who never believed in love, starts to fall for ava . And Ava, who has spent most of her life trying to forget, starts to remember things that could shatter her.

Their connection is intense, but complicated — because love doesn’t come easy when you're both carrying scars. Alex is fighting demons tied to revenge and control, while Ava is struggling to recover pieces of herself lost to trauma. And when secrets come to light, they’ll have to ask: Is love enough to survive the truth?

WHAT I PERSONALLY LIKE๐Ÿ’—๐Ÿ’—

In twisted love i like emotional depth. It’s about finding someone who sees you at your worst and still stays. About learning to let go of the past so you can build something real.

Secondly both Ava and Alex carry emotional baggage it is not just love it's healing and personal growth.

The tension builds beautifully. Their emotional and physical connection isn’t instant — it simmers, then explodes.

WHAT CRITIQUE SAYS๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ’ฌ๐Ÿ’ฌ

If you’re not a fan of ultra-controlling, broody male leads, Alex might be too much. He crosses a few boundaries that some readers find toxic.

A few scenes felt a bit too dramatic or unrealistic, like straight out of a soap opera. But that’s the charm for many!

FROM MY LENS๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€๐Ÿ‘€

Honestly, I don't enjoy characters that portray the so-called “alpha male” stereotype. The excessive possessiveness just doesn’t click with me. There needs to be a clear line between love, concern, and controlling behavior. Possessiveness shouldn’t be exaggerated to the point where it feels toxic or unrealistic. Respect and trust should be the foundation of any romantic connection — not dominance or constant doubt.

FINAL VERDICT๐Ÿ’๐Ÿ˜Ž

If you love steamy romance with high emotional stakes, broody billionaires, and strong female leads, Twisted Love is a page-turner. It’s not perfect — and definitely not for everyone — but it knows its audience. It’s bold, messy, and addictive.
